Sustainable Systems ( Week 1)

Monday, 6th January

Ms Supriya Thakkar

I have studied about sustainability before, in my 11th and 12th I studied Environmental science and societies which I think is very similar to what I m studying right now.

At first, Ma’am showed us a very interesting presentation which included memes that presented us our rules that we had to follow. Even I like the idea of showing a presentation then just vocally. Visually is easier to memorise and focus.

After the presentation we looked at 3 aspects – Environment, Economical, Social.

Environment is all about the Planet (ecosystem, water, energy, biodiversity, climate change, species). We discussed the climate change happening in Australia and India.

Economical is all about Profits. It takes measures of how much consumption each country is doing and industries, businesses. Industries are more about processing and packaging and how sustainable the packing is.

Social is all about People. It includes Poverty, Starvation, Gender inequality, Free education and Free healthcare.

I feel this subject also included Economics.

Then we did some small activity called quiz where ma’am gave us 10 questions on sustainability and we have to answer them.

She told us to stay updated with the current news on the global level which is really important.

We were told to bring any one medium, A3 size sheet in next class and note down one-day routine ( number of activities we have done during the day) to calculate how much you do for sustainability.
