Studio and Seminar SEMESTER 2 (WEEK 1)

In Studio, we discussed a little about what we did in our seminar class. Then ma’am told us to explain the meaning of despicable from the movie “despicable minions”. Following that we discussed deeply on the word hate, love, like. (Hate and love are very strong word which can’t be used simply anywhere to express anything also it differs from everyone. After that we all were given some words in a group of four, five people. Each group had to act it out and help the audience to guess the right word. My group was of four people including me and we got the word which we never heard of “trepidation”. It means a feeling of fear and anxiety about something that may happen. We had 2-3 ideas such as showing elements like sexual harassment, homesickness or just scared of dark. Then we decided to take sexual harassment in a way to show trepidation. While thinking about the ideas i was reading sentences which included the word trepidation and got more clarity about it as it said that fear is not enough, which means it’s a lot more then fear. I didn’t wanted it to look like harassment because then our audience won’t be able to guess the word. So at night two girls are walking on the street and 2 boys are staring and then follows them later. They pushed the girls unintentionally which made the girl more scared and then later on she has anxiety attack. No one was able to guess it except the words like anxiety and fear. The word was new to everyone. Ma’am suggested us to add some elements to our act such as the guy can say sorry in return or my act of me having anxiety attack could have been longer. Also, if it would have been focused on just me, it would have been expressed better. I was really impressed by this activity, it was so much fun. I learned 5 new words and looking forward to learn more. Now these words will never be forgotten because they are now stuck in my mind.

In Seminar class, we were told to explain ‘what is reading?’ ‘Why do people read?’ Common answers were purpose, to gain knowledge, they enjoy as a hobby. We also studied about the three things (Critical Reflection, Imagination, Creative awaiting) which are important to designers. We also recalled different factors included in our learning portfolio such as blogs, reflection, what happened in class, what you took back, thinking process, research. Metamorphosis was all about the previous semester. It included ‘who am I’ , retrospection (Writing Styles, Parallels drawn, ways of expression), metaphors, reflection, poems, letters, interviews, questionnaire, city exploration, observation, we visited Bau Daji Lad Museum. Ma’am also suggested us to watch the movie tomorrow land and read the book ‘Invisible Cities’ by Italo Calvino. We were told to research on the writer and their life story, about the books he wrote, when did and why did he wrote. Also told us to read atleast 5 chapters from Invisible Cities.
